Nearly half of the homeless are families with children.

The average age of the homeless is just 9 years old.

“Homeless children don’t have a choice.

To Make Dreams Real for them, and perhaps save their lives, Rotary District 5840 can make a difference with this project.”

Jim Montgomery, Rotary 5840 District Governor 2008-2009

What's different about this project?

We send our dollars and support around the world to people in great need. Now we can send our dollars and support to people who are really hurting right here in our own backyard.

Working together, we can make a significant difference. Each of our clubs can set a specific goal and make scheduled deposits in our District HFH account.

Our Presentation Committee is doing its best to inform you and your members on how important this project is and what we can do to help people who are in desperate need of assistance. They will leave you a Letter of Intent so you can set your club's goal of support.

Your donation set aside every day works out to be a very small and palatable amount that adds up quickly when combined with the 2800 other members in our District. If each of our members donates, then we can say, "41 cents a day, takes the hurt away"

Our District Committee, comprised of volunteers from clubs throughout Southwest Texas, eagerly awaits your pledge of support for this worthy cause.

We know you will be very proud of what our District clubs can do in an all out collective effort.

Together, we CAN make a difference!

30% of the homeless are U.S. Veterans

27% of the homeless are employed but half of them earn less than $350 a month

There are 25,000 homeless in San Antonio each year; 4,000 on any given night

"The Haven for Hope is the most significant social service effort every attempted in South Central Texas.

Rotary must be a part of this wonderful undertaking."

Reggie Williams, Rotary 5840 District Governor 2009-2010
