Dan Hargrove

Rotary Club of San Antonio member Dan L. Hargrove is a trial lawyer who represents businesses and individuals in civil litigation, government contracts, and general litigation.  Mr. Hargrove was named The 2004 San Antonio Young Lawyer of the Year by the San Antonio Young Lawyers Association, a Raising Star for 2004 & 2005 by Texas Monthly; and was named as one of San Antonio’s best employment attorney’s Scene in SA Monthly.

 

Mr. Hargrove has successfully tried dozens of fully contested jury trials.  Mr. Hargrove has extensive experience with government contracts, labor and employment issues, the False Claims Act (whistleblower and qui tam litigation), and the Federal Tort Claims Act.   

Before forming Hargrove & Rea, P.C., Mr. Hargrove practiced in the San Antonio office of Jenkens & Gilchrist, P.C. and served for five years on active duty with the US Army JAG Corps (10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) and the 82nd Airborne Division) and deployed to the Middle East.  He continues to serve in the reserves, with the rank of Major, and is an assistant professor at the Army JAG School.  He holds a Top Secret security clearance.  

 

Dan’s has been admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States, U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, all Texas courts, all U.S. District courts in Texas, Court of Federal Claims and Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.  His memberships in professional organizations include: American Bar Association (District Representative for the Southern District of Texas; ABA Standing Committee on Armed Forces Law; ABA Committee on Procurement Fraud), Rotary Club of San Antonio, Inns of Court—William S. Sessions Chapter and Society of Military Engineers.

Dan received his B.S. from Texas A&M University, University of Texas School of Law, St. Mary’s University School of Law, J.D. in 1994 and University of Virginia School of Law & U.S. Army JAG School, L.L.M. (Federal Procurement Law), 2003.

Dan was born and raised in El Paso, Texas.  He is married and has three children.  Dan has a long-time association with Rotary.  He was a Rotary Youth Exchange Student to Sweden in 1986.

Rotary will have a special reserved section for the parade again this year.  Tickets are $25 and can be obtained through the Rotary office. Tickets are limited so call now.

 

 

Family of Rotary News

 

Our condolences to the family of Past District Governor George William “Bill” Thorsby.  PDG Bill passed away February 5 at the age of 82.  He was District Governor in 1997-1998.  He was a member of the Stone Oak Rotary Club.

 

Congratulations!

 

United Communities of San Antonio is honoring the recipients of their annual Brotherhood/Sisterhood Humanitarian Awards at a dinner on March 5.  Congratulations to 2009 recipients which include our own Rotarians Dr. Carl Raba and Judge Nelson Wolff.  Other recipients are Tracy Wolff and Mike Birnbaum.  We are pleased to announce the recipient of the UCSA 2009 Lifetime Humanitarian Award is Art Riklin.
