 Volume  #97

March 4, 2009

    No. 35
     Featured Speaker:

Scott L. White, CHSP

Executive Director

San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau

Chair of the Day:  David Stewart

Since October 2006, Scott White has served as the Executive Director of the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau (SACVB), where he oversees the promotion of San Antonio’s $10.5 billion visitor industry, with a $20 million budget and more than 80 employees.  The CVB is responsible for convention and group visitor sales, leisure marketing, public relations, and film location marketing.  The state’s top tourism destination, San Antonio welcomes more than 26 million visitors a year and boasts a hospitality industry that is among the city’s largest economic generators.

In February 2008, the CVB launched San Antonio’s new brand strategy, “Deep. In the Heart”.

The new brand embodies a spirit of multi-cultural diversity, artistic spirit and authentic culture. The four specific pillars of the brand are People, Passion, Pride and Promise.  It is the goal of the CVB and the hospitality industry to integrate the new brand into all aspects of San Antonio and enhance the visitor experience throughout their stay.

White currently is a board member of the U.S. Travel Association and Texas Travel Industry Association, White previously served as the Executive Vice President of the Greater Phoenix Convention & Visitors Bureau, where his accomplishments included the successful bid for Super Bowl XLII in 2008.  White is currently enrolled at the University of Incarnate Word working on a BA degree in Organizational Development.

Scott and his wife Rachel Williamson are avid golfers and love the outdoors; they have two chocolate labs, Bella and Spencer.
