Blue Santa Service Project

The Young Members Board is sponsoring a holiday service project to bring joy to the children of San Antonio.  Until Dec 18, the club will be collecting new unwrapped toys for children ages 3 –12.  The toys will be collected and donated to the SA Police Department’s Blue Santa program.

All you have to do is bring your unwrapped toy to the Rotary meeting on Dec 9 or 16.  You can also drop them off at the Rotary office any day between 8:30 and 5:00.  Don’t have time to shop?  Blue Santa will gladly accept monetary donations to help provide holiday meals for the needy.

Everyone is feeling the pinch this year but help us make the holiday season a little brighter for a child.

Don't Forget the Army  Strong Zone on January 7

The Army has extended a very special invitation to all Rotarians, their families and friends.  On Thursday, January 7, 2010, the Army Strong Zone at Sunset Station will be open at 6:00 PM for a special viewing for our club and guests.  At 7:00 PM there will be a concert featuring country star Darryl Worley.  Come visit the Army Strong Zone and stay for the concert!

This special preview is the night before our annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl Awards Dinner.  Even if you can’t attend the dinner, bring the family and check out the latest Army technology.

The Army Strong Zone is a 129,000 square foot interactive display area featuring some of the Army’s elite technology and assets. Army Soldiers are also on-site to provide Americans with a glimpse into Army life and the many options and opportunities available.

This year, the Army Strong Zone will feature assets and technology from Fort Bliss (Texas), Fort Bragg (N.C.), Fort Campbell (Tenn.), and Fort Sam Houston (Texas).

Interactive displays of some of the most elite technologies will have Strong Zone visitors experiencing what it’s like to be an Army Strong Soldier.

Army technology on display will include the following technologies, in addition to many others: Sense Through Wall Rader Imager, night vision technology, robotics and aviation.  There will also be NASCAR and NHRA show cars; and a Kid Zone.  Read more at  Army Strong Zone
