San Antonio’s Efforts to Fight Childhood Obesity Feb 29, 2012 According to SA2020; the city’s vision for tomorrow, obesity is the most significant “epidemic” that stands in the way of San Antonio’s bright future. A recent Texas Education Agency fitness assessment found that 30.2% of students assessed were at an unhealthy weight.

Dr. Martin Luther King Remembered Feb 22, 2012 Dr. Martin Luther King faithfully championed a movement nurtured by America’s capacity for freedom, opportunity and justice. Late last year a national memorial was dedicated to his memory in Washington D.C. Here in San Antonio his faith and leadership were commemorated through the 25th annual MLK March attended by over 200,000 participants.

Today’s Engineers, Tomorrow's Rock Stars Feb 15, 2012 Today’s economic prosperity is driven primarily by the technical innovations of the past 100 years. Though incredible opportunity exists for our children to pursue careers in the fields of science and engineering, a dangerously small number do so. In his talk, Ray Almgren will present a brief history of the engineering profession, describe the challenges facing the profession, and present promising programs that are having a significant impact in increasing interest in science and engineering.
