Album Name: Kingdom for Kids VIII Return to Albums
Album Date: Oct 24, 2009
Description: Thanks to all of you & many more who supported our Kingdom for Kids VIII at South San Filadelfia last week. You can certainly see how these projects benefit the community. We were supported by this community, by this parish, by our corporate volunteers, by our friends in food services, by our Rotarians & by City Year! When we left Saturday after the ribbon cutting ceremony, we were proud upon the completion of two state of the art play grounds & a new basketball court. Rick Cavender

Some of the children who will benefit from this play structure test out the new slide. The entrance to the South San Filadelphia Church. Volunteers painted the exterior of the building. Volunteers working together to finish up some of the landscaping. With the help of community members, CityYear Corps members and Rotarians the South San Filadelphia experienced a total makeover. We completely relandscaped the grounds with the help of our friend Tommy Keese at Preferred Landscaping. We planted six beautiful trees.
One of two play structures that were constructed over a 2-day period. Let the landscaping begin! Without our volunteers, this would not have been possible. Thanks to all who came out and showed their support. Another Playstructure. Tools for the volunteers.
A walkway was laid from the Church to the Gazebo. On each brick is inscribed the name of a church member who worked to make this possible. The completed project is a true testimony to how volunteers can make a difference when they work together to complete a common goal. Laying the walkway to the church and the playground area. Setting up one of the two play areas. Rotarian Elizabeth Kuhlmann helps to paint the church.
Making sure the structure is ready for the children who will be playing on it. YMB President Gardner Peavy getting ready to test the slide. Lots of hardwork goes into each of our Kingdom for Kids builds. One of our many volunteers. City Year Corps Members.
Almost ready for the kids. Don Nance with a couple of the City Year Corps Members.
