David Nicolson
President, 2009-2010
I truly feel a sense of honor and humility being called upon to serve as President of our extraordinary Rotary Club. It has been a pleasure serving as a Board member over the past three years, and I am looking forward to working with the talented group of Rotarians that will be serving with me on the Board in the year ahead. Also, I can assure you that Karen Pitcher and her Program Committee have been working tirelessly to deliver a year of programs that will be second to none.
At our recent Board retreat, your Board discussed past successes and brainstormed future challenges. I believe the most notable initiative this year will be a renewed focus on the Rotarian member experience. The current state of affairs in the world are unprecedented and we all need to work together to help each other make the best of these difficult times. We will be striving to create a closer bond between our Club members and remind ourselves that there is not a more important time to remember to do business with a Rotarian. This year also promises to be the best year ever to participate in our Club’s birthday fundraiser and help increase our Club’s Foundation. We will be having monthly drawings for great prizes and the grand prize will be a weekend trip for two on Southwest Airlines that will include accommodations at a fine Hyatt property.
This year’s Rotary International theme is “The Future Of Rotary is in Your Hands.” I have no doubt that the hands of our Club members assure a bright future for the Rotary Club of San Antonio and through our service we will do our part to assure a bright future for Rotary worldwide.
In closing, I would like to thank President Patrick for the wonderful job he did in leading our organization over the past year. He is leaving our Club in fine shape with great momentum for the year ahead. I pledge to you to do everything in my power to maintain the fine standards that our Club has enjoyed since 1912.
