Get Involved!

Volunteers are essential to accomplishing SA Reads mission of having every 3rd grader in Bexar County reading at or above grade level.  Without the participation of community-minded citizens, the program would not exist.  The efforts of tutors make a huge contribution to students’ success.

Becoming a Tutor

Tutors complete a 2-hour training covering the reading curriculum.  All volunteers must complete a short application process and submit to a criminal background check.  Tutors are then placed at a school that is conveniently located near their home or place of business.  Tutors can decided which day and time works best for their schedule.

Each tutor commits to giving one hour a week, which is then divided between 2 students. If you are interested in helping a child achieve grade-level literacy by becoming a tutor, please email the Rotary office at assistant@rotarysa.org

Sincerely,

Karen Pitcher
