MENTORING  ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?

Facts:

  • The Mentoring Program is in its 5th year of helping many Diploma Plus Scholarship recipients who do not have anyone to give them a word of encouragement or listen to them.
  • Many of the students have taken on adult responsibilities while still in high school.
  • These students would benefit greatly from time spent one-on-one with a mentor.
  • One hour of your time every week during the school year is all it takes to make a difference.

Plans and goals for coming year:

  • We plan to mentor 60 high school seniors enrolled in the Diploma Plus program for the fall and spring high school semesters.
  • Mentoring takes place at the respective high schools during class hours once a week for approximately one hour.
  • No tutoring is expected and no outside of school campus contact is allowed.
  • Training sessions are available before the mentoring work begins.
  • Our ultimate goal is to provide the students with sound, basic advice while giving the students a chance to have someone who they can talk to who will listen and not judge them. We want to increase the student’s understanding of basic moral values and the importance of education in their lives.

Please consider this special time spent with deserving students.  Mentoring is truly a rewarding experience.
