Marina Alderete Gavito
In May of 2025, Marina Alderete Gavito was reelected to her second term on the San Antonio City Council to represent District 7.She received her undergraduate degree at St. Maryâs University and her masterâs degree at DePaul University. Marinaâs professional career has focused on technology and innovation, and she most recently served as the Executive Director of SA Digital Connects â a non-profit focused on curbing the digital divide in San Antonio.
Prior to that, she was the founding Executive Director of Tech Bloc and has also led teams at Rackspace and USAA. She previously served on the VIA Board of Trustees, the Bexar County Child Welfare Board, and the UTSA College of Engineering Advisory Board.
Sukh Kaur
Dr. Sukh Kaur was elected to serve District 1 on June 10, 2023. As the first South Asian to serve on the San Antonio City Council, she is committed to championing a local government that prioritizes those who need it most and improving the quality of life for all residents.
Sukh is passionate about education and economic development and works to build a more equitable San Antonio. She holds a Doctorate in K-12 Educational Leadership from Vanderbilt University, an MBA from the Rice Educational Entrepreneurship Program, and a BA in Policy Studies from Rice University. As a city councilmember, her work is centered around five key priorities: infrastructure, public safety, parks and community centers, small businesses, and affordable housing.
Sukh rhymes with "look" and Kaur is pronounced the same way as "core."
Marc Whyte
As an unwavering advocate for public safety, Marc was elected as the District 10 Councilman in May 2023. Â During his first term in office, he fought to make San Antonioâs city government more transparent, responsive and dedicated to addressing the priorities of our citizens. Born and raised in Texas, Marc grew up in a family of four before attending Wake Forest University where he obtained a degree in business in 2002. Â He then moved back to Texas to attend St. Maryâs Law School here in San Antonio where he graduated with honors in 2006.
Marc owns his own law practice in which he represents businesses and individuals in a variety of matters, including commercial litigation and property damage claims. Active in the community, he served on the Board of the Faith Family Clinic and Valero Alamo Bowl Committee, and he is an alumnus of Leadership San Antonio (Class 40).
