Marina Alderete Gavito
In May of 2025, Marina Alderete Gavito was reelected to her second term on the San Antonio City Council to represent District 7. She received her undergraduate degree at St. Maryâs University and her masterâs degree at DePaul University. Marinaâs professional career has focused on technology and innovation, and she most recently served as the Executive Director of SA Digital Connects â a non-profit focused on curbing the digital divide in San Antonio.
Prior to that, she was the founding Executive Director of Tech Bloc and has also led teams at Rackspace and USAA. She previously served on the VIA Board of Trustees, the Bexar County Child Welfare Board, and the UTSA College of Engineering Advisory Board.
Teri Castillo
Castillo is a proud product of our public schools and attended SAISDâs Burbank High School. Castillo earned her bachelorâs degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio and completed her clinical teaching at Fox Tech High School. In 2019, Castillo earned her masterâs degree in history with a focus in urban policy from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Since taking office, Castillo has helped bring historic investment to District 5ânearly doubling bond funding to $95.6 million. She continues to fight for the basics our neighborhoods need: better streets, drainage, and sidewalks. From protecting and building affordable housing to standing up for working families and safer communities, Castillo stays focused on what matters most to the people she serves. Castillo has built a District 5 team that takes a proactive approach responding to constituent needs, ensuring her offices goes out into the field meeting people where they are.
Phyllis Viagran
Phyllis Viagran was elected to serve as District 3 Councilwoman on June 15, 2021. Her deep-rooted connection to the southside and affection for San Antonio, Texas, are evident in her longstanding ties to District 3 as a proud native of the southside and her rich family heritage, most notably that of Toribio Losoya, an iconic Alamo Defender.
Throughout her journey, Phyllis Viagran's commitment to public service, community advocacy, and empowering others has been unwavering. Her diverse experiences and deep understanding of the challenges faced by various sections of the community and a vision for a more inclusive, tech-savvy, sustainable city have uniquely prepared her to take on the responsibilities of City Council and drive positive change in San Antonio. Phyllis Viagran's tireless efforts as a Councilwoman and her multifaceted engagement with various organizations exemplify her dedication to serving the people of San Antonio and District 3 and her vision for a vibrant, inclusive, and prosperous city.
Marc Whyte
As an unwavering advocate for public safety, Marc was elected as the District 10 Councilman in May 2023. Â During his first term in office, he fought to make San Antonioâs city government more transparent, responsive and dedicated to addressing the priorities of our citizens. Born and raised in Texas, Marc grew up in a family of four before attending Wake Forest University where he obtained a degree in business in 2002. Â He then moved back to Texas to attend St. Maryâs Law School here in San Antonio where he graduated with honors in 2006.
Marc owns his own law practice in which he represents businesses and individuals in a variety of matters, including commercial litigation and property damage claims. Active in the community, he served on the Board of the Faith Family Clinic and Valero Alamo Bowl Committee, and he is an alumnus of Leadership San Antonio (Class 40).
