Kingdom for Kids

One of our ongoing signature service projects is Kingdom for Kids, started by Past President Rick Cavender in 1997.  The Rotary Club of San Antonio, in partnership with City Year San Antonio and with the support of the Najim Family Foundation, has completed 20 playgrounds in selected locations across the San Antonio community.

By working with schools and other organizations in the city, we work to provide a safe haven for the children of the community.  Through Kingdom for Kids, we build playgrounds, soccer fields, landscape, paint and repair when needed.

Rotarians are joined by corporate volunteers, high school students from area Interact Clubs, college students from Rotaract Clubs and many others.  Many times their collective good work is completed in only two days.

Great pride and fulfillment comes to all when they witness the children “taking over the playground.”
