Marty Wender might be San Antonio’s best visionary after amassing nearly five decades in large-scale real estate development in our city that resulted in the 3,500-acre mixed use Westover Hills development that boasts corporate luminaries like Wells Fargo Operations Center, Nationwide Insurance, QVC Network, Sea World of Texas and the Hyatt Hill Country Resort. Marty has served in an array of leadership capacities, including Chair of the Board of the Alamo Public Telecommunications Council, Chair of the Greater Chamber, and on numerous boards ranging from the Masters Leadership Program, the San Antonio Medical Foundation, the UT Health San Antonio Development Board, and the McCombs School of Business Advisory Council. His accolades are lengthy as one of the most honored and respected members of the San Antonio business community.
Selected by the San Antonio Business Journal as one of five visionaries in its Century in Business special section, Marty has a keen understanding of our city’s growth and development, and his presentation will focus on how our history will continue to influence our future by projecting trends ahead. Known for his positive attitude, Marty overcame a serious accident several years ago and counts one of his biggest blessings as being fortunate to benefit from San Antonio’s outstanding medical community to help in his recovery. Friends refer to Marty as “Mr. Fix It,” because he’s always ready to roll up his sleeves and solve whatever problem is at hand.
